When we, Gaëtane and Humberto, met we soon realized we wanted to venture into green business together, focusing on regenerative agriculture. Naturaleza Ag is our opportunity to combine our passions and knowledge to provide quality, locally produced food using regenerative practices and teaching these strategies of abundance, diversity and connectivity to others.
Born in Fernie, and raised on this family acreage, Gaëtane is eager to offer her knowledge and enthusiasm for regenerative practices from her hometown, specializing in our mountainous, short season, climate. Gaëtane’s formal education is in environmental science, organic agriculture and permaculture design. As a professional agrologist, she has worked for government, private sector and non-government organizations. She has experience teaching permaculture design, facilitating groups, and conducting science. Now she’s eager to apply the book learning on the ground and in the soil.
Humberto’s background is in cattle and coffee farms in Honduras, Central America. He has a degree in agro-industrial engineering and has completed a permaculture design certificate. He has experience in honey production, irrigation design and installation, landscaping, nursery production and is now doing a carpentry apprenticeship. He has taught workshops to small and medium-sized farmers on irrigation use and installation. Humberto is a volunteer firefighter with the Hosmer Fire Department. Both he and Gaëtane volunteer their time and expertise at the Fernie EcoGarden.
